project pivot

Hello all my faithful followers, you guys rock – all two of you!

Okay, I’m actually excited to have a few more followers than that – also, so many friends and colleagues reaching out with questions and advice about my project. Thanks for the continued support in my journey to zero-waste.

This past summer got away from me with marathon training, work, and a full class schedule. Now that race season is over and the majority of schoolwork includes my project, I can reassess my progress and make some plans.

In the beginning of my project, I had this vision of what zero-waste was and in it I was washing my face with honey and carrying around my years trash in a mason jar. I also thought I could replace everything with coconut oil because it solves all of life’s problems, right? Toothpaste? Coconut oil. Dry skin? Coconut oil. Bad credit? Coconut oil. Boyfriend acting up? Coconut oil.

Okay that’s a stretch but needless to say – I was a bit in over my head. I spent a semester practicing a zero-waste lifestyle and finally found a sustainable balance to keep going. One thing that really clicked with me is that

zero-waste is a concept not a lifestyle

and there are many aspects to make the strategy effective. As of now, I’ll be keeping up with the blog while I continue the project – and I have a lot to share already. Stay in touch!
